Summary: The description, specs, pricing, photos and user ratings for Smith & Wesson’s M&P Pro Series CORE pistols.

Manufacturer’s Description

The 5″ barrel.

The Smith & Wesson (S&W) M&P Pro Series CORE pistols are built on polymer frames and chambered in 9mm or .40 SW. Based on S&W’s Pro Series line of competition-ready firearms, the new CORE models offer a specialized platform for adding accessory optics to their personal handguns (CORE stands for Competition Optics Ready Equipment).

These pistols feature a specialized mounting platform on the slide shooters can change to match their desired optic. Through the use of removable brackets, you simply install the corresponding mounting screws to achieve the precise fit and height required. They are designed to accept six popular styles of competition based optics, including the Trijicon RMR, the C-More STS, the Leupold DeltaPoint, the Docter, the Insight MRDS and the JPoint.

The new M&P CORE models will be available with either a 4.25″ or 5″ barrel configuration. Each model retains the M&P’s original design features, including the polymer frame, the through-hardened stainless steel slide and barrel, ambidextrous operating controls, the striker fire action and the Melonite finish. Internal features also remain consistent with the original design, including a stainless steel internal chassis designed to reduce flex while also providing a stable shooting platform. The M&P pistol’s low-bore axis is designed to help maintain ease-of-use and a comfortable feel, and the passive trigger safety prevents the pistol from firing if dropped regardless of angle. A sear release lever eliminates the need to press the trigger in order to disassemble, and the take-down lever is located on the frame’s left side. A loaded chamber indicator is present on top of the slide, and the slide features  rear scalloped serrations.

More New Features
For improved handling, the M&P CORE models feature a new textured interchangeable back strap with prominent stippling. Three patented palmswell grips come with each pistol, giving you the ability to tailor the grip size to your personal preference.

For improved accuracy and precise shot placement during competition, these pistols come standard with a Performance Center sear. S&W says the specialized sear allows for a crisp 4.5 lb. trigger pull along with a fast, defined reset between shots. On top of the slide, S&W has added higher sights you can use with the mounted optic. Other standard features of the new pistols include a crowned muzzle for improved accuracy, a picatinny-style equipment rail and a reversible magazine release.

The 4.25″ barrel.
