Summary: The manufacturer’s description and specs, and the average user rating for the Ruger Mark III Competition pistol.

Manufacturer’s Description

The Mark III Competition features a turdy, stainless steel, slab-sided bull barrel and precision-adjustable sights designed to keep shots on target round after round. The sighting system features fixed front, precision-adjustable rear sights and drilled and tapped receiver for Weaver-style scope base adapters (included free) for easy mounting of optics.

The smoothly contoured, comfortable grip offers a natural pointing grip angle with checkered cocobolo grip
panels with thumbrest providing a non-slip hold. The manual safety and magazine release are conveniently located on the left side of the frame.

The manual safety positively locks the sear when applied. The Mark III Competition also features an unobtrusive internal lock that locks the safety in the safe position and allows you to safely secure the firearm when not in use. The magazine disconnect prevents discharge when the magazine has been removed.

Finally, the internal cylindrical bolt construction ensures permanent alignment and higher accuracy potential than conventional moving-slide designs.

The Competition comes with two magazines and a hard plastic case.

    Wonderful gun.
Very accurate, sub 2 inch 50 foot patterns all day long.
Heavy gun so younger shooters are sometimes drawn away from this gun to others, but to more experienced shooters this makes it a more stable platform, increasing accuracy and decreasing felt recoil.
The magazine release is not in a familiar place for 1911 shooters being on the bottom of the grip.
This gun is somewhat partial to ammunition quality, I’ve found that when using high quality pistol ammunition it functions very well.
The weaver sight base is a nice included extra.
If it weren’t for the convoluted reassembly contortions it may rate a solid 10 stars.
