Summary: The description, specs, photo, pricing and user ratings for the Ruger P95 pistol.

Manufacturer’s Description

The Ruger P95 is a polymer framed 9mm Luger pistol with textured grip area and fixed, high-visibility, 3-Dot front and rear sights. It features an ambidextrous manual safety for both left- and right-handed shooters that is within easy reach of either thumb.

The steel slide comes in either Ruger’s proprietary Terhune Anticorro stainless steel or chrome-molybdenum blued steel. The frame is constructed of black, matte-finish, reinforced polymer with a built-in picatinny rail and a rounded trigger guard, and it sports a black, non-slip, textured grip.

The P95 is designed to be easily maintained and can be field-stripped into five major subassemblies for cleaning, without the need for special tools. It comes with two magazines, a magazine loader and a hard plastic case.

Purchased the stainless version several months ago and sold it a month ago…was very accurate out of the box but after 500 rounds or so, the thing rattled like an old car and that was with the slide closed! The recoils spring wasn’t very strong as well as the fact that there are no slide rails at all…it’s the polymer frame getting rubbed constantly by the steel slide…a recipe for disaster. No wonder Ruger ditched this model! Gave it 3 stars becaause it held up about 3 months! The Ruger SR-9 is much better and that is what I bought after ditching this P-95 junk!

Gotta disagree with the claim this gun is junk. Ruger has kept this gun in its catalog for 18 years–if it was junk, they’d have ditched it sooner. It’s highly accurate, substantial, and easy to shoot. It is NOT temperamental with regard to ammo. The polymer frame is rugged–any concerns about the slide rails being polymer are unwarranted if proper maintenance and lubrication is done.

The P95 is kinda clunky, so it makes a good range gun or night stand gun. The trigger is silky smooth and breaks like glass, and a Wolff spring kit will lighten the double-action feel.

I agree that the SR9 is a nicer gun, but it also striker-fired and some folks want a hammer action gun. I have both guns, and while I prefer the SR9, I’m not about to get rid of my P95 just yet.

The Ruger P95 is one of the most cost effective combat grade 9mm pistols ever built IMHO. It is well built, very durable, more accurate than many give it credit for, easy to maintain and fits the hand very well (especially if you add a Hogue Handall grip sleeve). Mine has over 14,000 rounds down the pipe during the past 10+ years and is yet to have a single failure of any kind or show any significant wear. Properly maintained, it should last a lifetime.
