Manufacturer’s Description
The Ruger SP101 single-action/double-action revolver is build on a stainless steel frame with a satin stainless finish and a variety of barrel lengths. It’s chambered in .22 LR, .327 Federal Magnum and .357 Magnum (which also accepts the less expensive .38 Special cartridges). Other features include:
- solid steel sidewalls (no side-plates) to make them rugged, reliable and dependable;
- a triple-locking cylinder locked into the frame at the front, rear and bottom for more positive alignment and dependable operation; and
- the patented Ruger transfer bar mechanism to provide security against accidental discharge.
Available front sights include a black ramp sight and a fiber-optic sight (on the 4.2″ barrel model). Available rear sights include a fixed rear sight and a windage adjustable rear sight (on the 4.2″ barrel model).
The grip frame design accomodates a variety of custom grips, including a cushioned rubber grip with a black plastic insert, a cushioned rubber grip with an engraved hardwood insert (on the 4.2″ barrel model) and Crimson Trace Lasergrips. None of the grips feature exposed metal in the backstrap.
You can get the SP101 with a spurred hammer (all models), or a spurless hammer (the 2.25″ barrel model, which is double-action-only).
Ruger says taking down of the integrated sub-assemblies requires no special tools and allows for no hassle maintenance and assembly. The SP101 comes with a hard plastic case.
